Culinary 86 was founded by Executive Chef Chris Donaldson, whose passion for cooking began in the restaurant kitchens of his hometown, Detroit, Michigan. Like many athletes as himself, Chris spent years focused on training and competition. But over time, another interest began to take hold. What started as curiosity in the kitchen turned into something deeper.

Cooking became a way to create, to take care of people, and to bring intention to something everyone experiences every day. While athletics taught him how the body performs, cooking showed him how food could support that performance while still delivering comfort, enjoyment, and connection.

As he spent more time in kitchens, that curiosity turned into commitment. Chris pursued the craft seriously, working in professional restaurant environments where he developed the discipline, precision, and high standards that define great kitchens.

Most chefs have never stepped on a court. Most nutritionists have never worked a dinner rush.

Chef Chris has done both.

That intersection between the discipline of athletic performance and the precision of culinary excellence is exactly how for the next 8 years, Chef Chris would go on to cook for professional athletes, entrepreneurs, and high-performing individuals.

At Culinary 86, we've taken that culinary principle and made it a philosophy for how we operate in food, business, and life.
